Ilija M. Kolarca Endowment, founded in 1932 as the Kolarca National University, is a cultural and educational institution. Named after Ilija Milosavljević Kolarc (1800–1878), a Serbian merchant, this endowment is a legacy he left for the education and culture of his people. In his will, all his assets were intended to support educational and cultural programs. The established endowments, the Literary Fund and the University Fund, aim to support the Kolarč National University and spread scientific and cultural achievements.
Kolarac's endowment, as a permanent legacy, promotes the development of society through education and knowledge. Their work is carried out through various activities in the Center for Music, the Center for Teaching Activities with the Gallery and the Library, the Center for Teaching Foreign Languages and the Center for Publishing Activities with the Aleksandar Belić Bookstore.
The building of the Kolarc National University, opened on February 4th, 1932, unites scientific knowledge about architecture and acoustics on an area of about 4,500 square meters. With multifunctional spaces such as the Great Hall, Art Gallery, Music Gallery, lecture halls, library and classrooms, it provides opportunities for various activities and programs.
